This course focuses the student on learning how the earths mountain ranges and their undersea opposite ocean trenches – are formed.
The concept of tectonic plates, the theory of plate movement as well as what an earthquake is and why it occurs is also discussed.
An indept look is taken at volcano formation and the types of volcanoes; the question “Where are volcanoes located?” is also answered.
This course comprises of seven lessons and is designed for students in grades 4 to 6. It enforces the theme of fun, student involved education through the use of interactive content. It encourages students to consider the immediate and long-term effects of volcanic eruptions and to examine the reasons why people choose to live near volcanoes. Measures taken by cities to protect their people and infrastructure against earthquakes is also looked at.
At the end of this course the student should be able to accurately describe how mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes are formed. They should also be able to discuss any natural phenomena which result following volcanic and earthquake action.
